UNMC 2014-2015
On our third trip to UNMC, Dr. Booth gave a presentation on microbiology. His main focus was on bacteria. We then used university microscopes to look for micro-organisms in salt water and pond water. The students discovered some very interesting specimens!
During our second trip at UNMC on Wednesday, November 12th, we learned about the field of Pharmacy. The students even made their own "ointment" made out of white frosting and food coloring.
This year's UNMC visits began on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. For this session we learned about organ donation.
UNMC 2013-2014
8th grade HAL students attended their first session at UNMC on October 9th. During this trip, we learned about the Nursing Program. The students in the program get to simulate different types of situations and symptoms that my arise while attending their patient by taking care of a computerized, robotic mannequinns. They can move, blink, breathe, talk, and have bodily fluids.
